A series of national tournaments devoted to the anniversary of election of Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov as the President of Turkmenistan was organized by the National Draughts Center of the country.
The representatives of all provinces of the country and Ashgabat carried on the fight in four national championships on hundred-square chessboard. Male championship of the country is held in two stages. Initially, the competitions took place in the first league, where 20 participants in robin tournament played 10 vouchers to the major league.
At that, the final tournament gathered the strongest composition of the competitors for medals with the masterly norm – 14 persons. The prize-winners of the national championship have been determined on rotational system. Having won nine victories from 13 possible, the international grand masters brothers Mustafa and Bashim Durdiyevs accumulated 22 points each. Their additional indices were identical as well. As a result, it was made a decision to give the title of the country’s champion to both draught players.
