The Turkmen tennis players started with victory over team of Kyrgyzstan – 2:1 in elimination tournament of junior (under 16 years old) Davis Cup, which is held in the Malaysian city Kuching. 13 teams divided into four groups contend for two vouchers for the next qualifying round of these prestigious competitions. Two teams of each group make the strongest top eight, which contend for two vouchers for the next round of qualifying competitions in accordance with Olympic system. Turkmenistan is represented in “C” group together with teams of Saudi Arabia and Kyrgyzstan.

In starting match, the national team of Saudi Arabia won with a score of 3 goals to nil a victory over representatives of Kyrgyzstan, who met after that with our tennis players. Though, in the single games, our compatriot E. Jumayev was inferior to A. Mamatov 3:6, 2:6, but I. Barzasekov confidently got the better of E. Tenizbayev within 35 minutes - 6:1, 6:0 and brought the score level in the match – 1:1. In decisive pair game, I. Barzasekov in duet with H. Chariyev gained the upper hand over A. Mamatov and E. Tenizbayev – 6:1, 6:3 and won a victory for team of Turkmenistan – 2:1.

Now, our tennis players have to meet with the representatives of Saudi Arabia. The result of this match will show which of the teams will be included into playoffs from the first place in group, and which of them – from the second.
