The fourth round of the Turkmenistan Premier Football League Tournament began with two matches in the capital and the administrative centre of Balkan Velayat.
The first match was held at the Ashgabat stadium in the Turkmen capital between the neighbours in the league table Talyp Sporty FC from Ashgabat and Shagadam FC from Turkmenbashi that take the eighth and ninths places respectively after three rounds. The sportsmen from the maritime town scored one goal in the net of their opponents in each half of the match and missed no goals. This victory enabled Shagadam FC – the winners of the Turkmenistan Football Federation Cup 2014 to gain 7 points and came close to the leaders in the league table.
The match between the vice-champions of Turkmenistan, the winners of the AFC President’s Cup Balkan FC and the two time winners of the Turkmenistan President’s Cup Altyn Asyr FC in Balkanabat aroused intense interest not only because it was the game between the holders of two prestigious trophies. Before the match these teams were in the top three: Altyn Asyr FC with 7 points ranked second and Balkan FC with 6 points ranked third.
As expected, the two teams demonstrated persistence and strong will to win. The fate of the game was decided the only goal scored in the second half by the guests. Altyn Asyr FC gained their third victory in the tournament and topped the league table with 10 points. Ashgabat FC that has played one match less has 7 points and ranks second.
The fourth round of the national tournament will end in the matches: Bagtyyarlyk-Lebap FC and Ahal FC, Dashoguz FC and Merv FC and ITTU and Ashgabat FC on March 26.
