A Turkmen delegation took part in the festive events on the occasion of international day of Novruz held in Kabul, the capital city of the Islamic republic of Afghanistan, which this year has become the capital city of Novruz. Earlier the centre of the international festival by the solar calendar was the IRI, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan.
On the eve of the main festive event, the Turkmen delegation which included officials-heads of a number of ministries and departments, world humanitarian association of Turkmens, as well as workers of culture and art, journalists and others, met with the Turkmen Diaspora living in Afghanistan. Its representatives came especially from different parts of the country where in 40 etraps of 31 provinces numerous ethnic Turkmens live and therefore one can often see or find Turkmen names in populated areas. The meeting was held in the atmosphere of warmth, friendship and its participants conducted an emotional and touching talk with their compatriots.
Turkmen bakhshis, variety actors and dancers of folklore and ethnographic groups took part in the joint festive concert in the studio of local television.
The main event of spring festival which brought together delegations from a number of countries of the region in Kabul, took place in the presidential palace on March 27. The procession of cavalries with flags of countries –participants of Novruz was the main feature of the opening of the festive ceremony.
In the territory of the palace the exhibition of works of national decorative and applied arts was opened and a Turkmen pavilion was also set up there. The exposition was continued with traditional Turkmen foods made by our masters and cooks which participants and guests of the festival treated.
Our musicians, dutar players, bakhshis, and other performers gathered around themselves grateful and noble fans of art. They performed old and festive music compositions, songs, and performance of dance groups was a very interesting. The old dance “kushdepdi’ was welcomed with special applauds of spectators.
Special costumes, connected with Novruz and other rites and traditions reflected in music, dance, and oral and fine art of peoples of the region were demonstrated in the festival in Kabul. During the colourful and multi-genre music program masters of art spectators familiarized themselves with original choreographic compositions and dramatized events which reflected national features of culture of every country of the region.
The “shaman ody” became an inseparable part of the spring New Year event and it symbolized purification and blessing for new life. The around the ritual fire representatives of all delegations like a united family with common values gathered.
