Thousands of Turkmen sportsmen gathered together under the flags of the healthy life style to participate in the various sports events within the framework of the mass sports and cultural events, which will be held under the motto "Health and Happiness" on April 1-30 to mark World Health Day. The main venue for the sports festivities was the Turkmen capital that hosted a number of large-scale competitions.
It should be noted that on the eve of the national sports events, 15-year-old Turkmen wrestler Yusupberdi Kurraev won the bronze medal in the under 50-kg weighting category in the Greco-Roman Wrestling Tournament in Moscow that brought together over 300 wrestlers from Russia, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan. This is the first medal Yu. Kurraev won at the international arena. At present, our sportsman is preparing for the International Junior Tournament to be held in Zelenograd, the Russian Federation on April 25-27.
The mass sports and cultural events started with the five-kilometre marathon at the Kopetdag Avenue. The valuable prizes were awarded to the winners on behalf of the State Committee for Sports, Ashgabat Khyakimlik, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Ministry of Culture, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Health and Medical Industry of Turkmenistan as well as public organizations.
The marathon of the sports events continued at the tracks of the main arena of the Kopetdag Sports Complex.
Moreover, the scientific and practical conference "Health and Happiness" was held in the conference hall of the Ministry of Health and Medical Industry of Turkmenistan.
