The first qualifying round of the Ahalteke horse beauty contest was held at the equestrian sports complex in Ashgabat. The outstanding representatives of the unique horse breed from all over Turkmenistan are participating in the competition.
The aim of the beauty contest among Ahalteke horses that are the invaluable heritage of the Turkmen people and the civilization is to boost the development of the horse industry, provide incentives to Turkmen horse breeders and trainers and promote worldwide the knowledge about legendary Ahalteke horses and their homeland.
Many applications for the participation in the Ahalteke horse beauty contest have been submitted to the special commission under Turkmen Atlary State Association. The commission consists of the prominent horse breeders of the country and cultural workers and artists – connoisseurs and beauty experts.
Ahalteke horses at the age from 3 to 10 years born and raised in Turkmenistan are participating in the contest. Among them are the thoroughbreds from the National Equestrian Sports Centre of Turkmen Atlary State Association, the Ahalteke stud farm and Ahalteke horses bred by at private stud farms and others.
Dozens of magnificent Ahalteke horses took part in the first qualifying round. The jury were to assess their exterior, grace and qualities and choose the best. Many admirers of the ‘heavenly’ horse had another excellent opportunity to enjoy the beauty and grace of the elite representatives of the legendary breed and compare their conformation and movement qualities and the ability to execute the commands. 20 ‘heavenly horses’ were selected in the first qualifying round. They will continue to compete for the title of the most beautiful and graceful horse of the year at the nest stage of the contest.
The final of the Ahalteke horse beauty contest and the art contest among cultural and arts workers of the country will take place in Ashgabat on April 26.
