Special Adviser to the UN Secretary-General on Sport for Development and Peace Wilfried Lemke, who had arrived in Turkmenistan on a working visit, got acquainted with the Olympic Village facilities and the Winter Sports Complex. The distinguished guest arrived in our country to see modern sports objects under construction in Turkmenistan as well as to discuss the issues regarding the organization of large international tournaments and the role of Turkmenistan in development of the world sports movement.
The guest visited the Olympic Village that will host the V Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games. The Special Adviser to the UN Secretary-General was amazed with the scales of construction of the Olympic Village and its functional characteristics. In particular, Mr. Lemke noted that he had visited many sports complexes that hosted large international tournaments, but the Olympic Village in the Turkmen capital surpassed many of them.

Then, the distinguished guest visited the exhibition showcasing the achievements of our country in development of winter sports.
WIthin the framework of the visit, Special Adviser to the UN Secretary-General on Sport for Development and Peace Wilfried Lemke met with a group of athletes representing the Ashgabat Sports School for sportsmen with disabilities. During the meeting, Mr. Lemke noted that the United Nations Organization paid significant attention to the social adaptation of people with disabilities attracting them to activity in various spheres, including sport. The Special Adviser to the UN Secretary-General on Sport for Development and Peace expressed satisfaction with the large-scale work carried out in Turkmenistan in this sphere.
Wishing the students of the Ashgabat Sports School for sportsmen with disabilities every success in their future endeavors, the guest headed to the ice arena of the Sports Complex to watch the hockey match between Shir HC and Oguzkhan HC.
Upon completion of the match, the Special Adviser to the UN Secretary-General on Sport for Development and Peace shared his impressions underlining the mastership of Turkmen hockey players and the high level of the sports infrastructure in the country in general and noted that the united Nations Organization would maintain the partner relations with Turkmenistan in the sphere of sport.
