The month of mass physical culture and sports, cultural and recreational actions has passed half way continuing not only giving happiness and communication to Turkmen sports fans with numerous sports events but also yields its results. Four medals - two gold and silver medals won by Turkmen sportsmen in the international tournament among juniors and adults in Greco-roman wrestling which was finished in the city of Thessalonica of Greece.
In the competitions 7 best wrestlers of our country took place. Among juniors U. Durdyev (weight class 50 kg) winning a gold medal and A. Jumayev (weight class 60 kg) winning silver medal demonstrated their high sporting excellence. Among young sportsmen Sh. Amangulyev (50 kg.) ascending the highest pedestal of honor and G. Muradov (54 kg.) winning a silver medal also showed high results.
Besides the physical culture, recreational events of the month the actions were filled with other important events which have a direction connection with development of sports in our country.
Today in the sports school of chess of the city sports committee of Ashgabat winners and prize winners of the chess championship of Turkmenistan among men and women of the high league were declared.
Mentioning the theme of the national team, we should remind that both men and women chess players are going to face a serious training in the near months to perform in the world chess championship to be held in the city of Tromso of Norway in August. One of the stages of preparation will become participation of Turkmen sportsmen in the large international rating tournament to be held in Budapest of Hungary from 2 to 14 may.
In addition to it, we should add that on April 17, a group of Turkmen masters of martial arts taekwondo (ITF version) of 10 sportsmen and two trainers will fly to Kathmandu of Nepal to participate in the Asian championship among juniors and adults.
On Thursday in the Ashgabat sports complex “Galkynysh’ the wushu championship of Turkmenistan will start with participation of sports of junior and adult groups.
Another martial arts championship - Kekushinkai -karate Championship of Turkmenistan finished today in the administrative center of Dashoguz province where about 100 masters representing all provinces of the country and Ashgabat demonstrated their skills.
Here in Dashoguz these days other two championship of Turkmenistan in football and volleyball among junior sportsmen take place.
In the administrative centre of Lebap province these days numerous tournaments of national level take pace. On April 17 in one of the specialized sports schools starts Tai boxing championship of Turkmenistan and will last for three days.
In Friday the Turkmenabat specialized sports school 5 will host the regular sports gymnastics championship of Turkmenistan and on the running track of the new sports complex with seats for 10 000 best athletes of the country will compete in several discipline of the queen of sports.
