The presentation of the new collection of poems of Makhtumkuli has taken place at the Russian ethnographic museum of Saint-Petersburg. Members of the government of Saint-Petersburg, representatives of the wide public, creative intelligence, numerous national diasporas of northern capital of Russia, mass media, Turkmen students studying in the Petersburg higher educational establishments have taken part in ceremony.
The new edition «Makhtumkuli. The selected works» included about 400 poems. Along with earlier published poems in Russian translation, more than three hundred poems which have sounded in Russian language for the first time was included into the collection. Employees of the Institute of language and literature named after Makhtumkuli of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan with assistance of the Russian experts took part in the work on new book.
Within the frameworks of presentation the exposition of Turkmen national decorations brought from Ashgabad has been expanded. Then, the celebrations in honour of the genius of Turkmen poetry was continued at the Institute of Eastern manuscripts of the Russian Academy of Sciences where the unique exhibition of Turkmen manuscripts stored in this scientific center has taken place. The main attention was attached to "Divan" – the collection of poems of Makhtumkuli copied in the end of XVIII - beginning of XIX centuries in Khiva and Nizhnee Povolzhye. There are five available lists of Fragi’s works in manuscripts collection of the Institute.
At the concert hall of Youth Palace the performance of the Turkmen artists has taken place. Works from the treasury of the national musical classics, popular variety songs and, of course, works created to the poems of Makhtumkuli Fragi performed by Turkmen baghshis were in the concert program.
