At II International sports festival among schoolchildren of CIS countries in Kazan (RF), Turkmen residents gained victory in team kinds of sports having showed one “gold” and two “silver” results.
About 1500 schoolchildren-sportsmen from Azerbaijan, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova and other states gathered at the capital of Tatarstan. Participants contested for medals in seven kinds of sports – mini-football, basketball, volleyball, table tennis, badminton, chess and fitness-aerobics. Competitions have taken place in sports fields that received last year the World Student Games, where the Turkmen sportsmen-students also conquered numerous awards.
At this festival our schoolchildren won mini-football competitions. Turkmenistan residents gained 4 victories over the combined teams of Russia, Tatarstan, Ukraine, and Belarus and scored draw with junior Moldovan football-players. Silver medals were won at the volleyball and basketball competitions.
These days the President of the school of the Sports Federation of Russia, threefold Olympic champion on figure skating Irina Rodnina met in Moscow with the representatives of the National Winter Sports Center of Turkmenistan. The main theme of the meeting was about opportunities of further development of the Turkmen figure skating school. Let’s remind that in the middle of April the Ashgabat group of figure skaters “Maral” has performed at the 28th International festival of ice dances with the composition “Rhythms of Turkmenistan”, which was acknowledged the best in the nomination “Staging originality”. And at the festival last year our figure skaters with the composition “Avaza” have won a Cup “For the best choreography”.
So, the potential of our successors of figure skating gives the basis to expect in a nearest future the good results, underlined the legendary figure skater.
Next month, the world championship, in the course of which the symposium of the International Hockey Federation (IHF) on issues of development of this kind of sports in the world and in our country will be conducted in Minsk, will take place in Belarus. Immediately after symposium, it will be held the congress of IIHF, where it is planned to submit official application on entry of the National Hockey Center of Turkmenistan into International Federation.
Concerning the national competitions on hockey, then yesterday, the tournament among juniors has completed in Ashgabat. Four teams – “Oguzkhan”, “Shir”, “Berkut” and Sports school of the State Committee for sports have met on ice arena of Winter Sports Complex. Match between the finalists of the second International Hockey Tournament for Cup of the President of Turkmenistan held in February of the current year in Ashgabat - “Oguzkhan” and “Shir” teams became major one. That time, victory was gained by young “lions” and this time, players of “Oguzkhan” team evened the score, having won the first place in resistance with a score of 2 goals to one.
In the last weekends, the winner of national football tournament among juniors has been determined on the main arena of the capital’s sport complex “Kopetdag”. It is team “Yashlyk” of specialized children’s school of Olympic Reserve.
On April 26, the running tracks of Ashgabat Sport Complex “Kopetdag” became venue of holding the festive sport event for people with disabilities. In the last weekends, two tournaments among juniors – on kickboxing and chess were held in the administrative center of Lebap province. At present, Fencing Championship of Turkmenistan takes place in Balkanabat, and Third Volleyball Championship among male teams of major league started in Dashoguz.
