Good news keeps coming in these April days from international sport competitions. So, at the International Wushu Tournament held in the capital of Armenia – Yerevan among juniors and adults, national team of Turkmenistan won 11 medals – 5 gold, 2 silver and 4 bronze. On April 29, celebration in honor of Turkmen team of volleyball players, which became silver prize-winner of II International Sport Festival among schoolchildren of CIS countries, was held in the capital’s school for training of young Olympic competitors of the State Committee of Turkmenistan for sports.
Nearly 500 sportsmen from 11 countries – Russia, Iran, Lebanon, Syria, Algeria, Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, Georgia, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and others took part in Wushu competitions taken place in the Yerevan Sports Complex “Dynamo”. Turkmen team was represented by 11 wrestlers and all of them raised the podium.
Celebration in honor of young team on volleyball not by accident was held at the school of Olympic reserve since vice-champions of the International festival in Kazan are the pupils of this sport-educational institution. Not only classmates and teachers but also the representatives of Youth Organization named after Magtymguly congratulated the athletes of Honored Coach of Turkmenistan Yazgeldi Khojayev. Young sportsmen received keepsakes.
It will be recalled that in the course of competitions in Kazan, Turkmen volleyball players easily overcame the group phase and then in semifinal, they won a victory over Kazakh players with a score of 3 goals to nil and in decisive game, gave way to the hosts of competitions – the teams of Russia.
At present, volleyball team of school of Olympic reserve prepare for Championship of Turkmenistan among juniors born in 1998-1999, which will be held from May 6 to 10 in administrative center of Dashoguz province.
