The competitions and sporting events devoted to the Day of Revival, Unity and Magtymguly's Poetry have been held throughout the country lately. These include Turkmenistan Car Racing Cup, football festival, XIV Turkmenistan Cup of IV Taekwondo (WTF) Cup of the Embassy of the Republic of Korea, figure skating performances, etc. Moreover, our compatriots have won prizes and medals in international tournaments this month.

The First Saturday chess tournament series has been held lately in the capital of Hungary, Budapest. Our chess players won five - 1 gold, 2 silver and 2 bronze medals in the international tournament. International Master Maksat Atabaev, who won the rapid chess torment, brought the highest award to the receptacle of sporting achievements of Turkmenistan.

Maksat gained seven victories, played a drawn game and lost one game in the tournament. M. Atabaev played on the 64-cell field with his brother International Master Yusup Atabaev, who also competed for a gold medal, in the semi-final. Finally, Maksat took the first place and Yusup won a bronze medal.

International Grand Master Orazly Annageldyev and Candidate Master Kurbangeldy Amangeldyev won silver medals. Orazly performed in the men's International Master group and Kurbangeldy performed in the FIDE Master group. Candidate Master Hurma Velieva won the second bronze medal for Turkmenistan team in the FIDE Master group. The performance of a 15-year-old Master of Sports Saparmurat Atabaev deserves mentioning. He competed on equal terms in the International Master men's group and ranked fourth.

Our chess players are to perform in the World Chess Olympiad, which will be held in Norwegian Tromso in August, the Asian Games, which will be held in Korean Incheon in September, the Asian Junior Championship and other competitions.

Another good news came from the capital of Azerbaijan, Baku, where Perman Ishanov won a gold medal in the 14-15 age group under 70 kg weight category of Shotokan Karate Caspian Cup, in which over 40 athletes performed. The competitions in Baku continue.

Currently, a group of Turkmen racers are preparing for the international tournament, which will be held in the capital of Uzbekistan, Tashkent next month. Ashgabat will host Yarav Open Cup, which will bring together car racers from Turkmenistan and other countries of the world this summer.

"Let's play football!" is the motto of the II Football Festival, which took place in the Turkmen capital. It was organized by the State Committee for Sport and the Football Federation of Turkmenistan jointly with the UN Population Fund (UNFPA), the UN Children's Fund (UNICEF) and the World Health Organization in Turkmenistan to promote football in the country. None of the participants of the Festival was left without prizes, including the youngest participant of the football festival - the 3-year-old player, who received to the Audience Choice Award.

As for football, it should be noted that FC Ashgabat held the match with FC Talyp Sporty on the green field of the Ashgabat sports complex. The teams had no success in the first half of the match. About 300 athletes divided in three age groups - cadets, juniors and adults - participated in XIV Turkmenistan Cup of IV Taekwondo (WTF) Cup of the Embassy of the Republic of Korea. These competitions are one of the stages of preparation for the major international tournaments, including the Asian Championships and the Asian Games in Incheon.
