The performance of the Turkmen sportsmen in the Asian Alysh (belt wrestling) Championship, which was held in the Islamic Republic of Iran, was a success: they brought 11 medals, including 7 gold, 2 silver and 2 bronze medals, to the receptacle of the sports achievements of our country.
Rano Uzakova (under 66 kg), Nasiba Surkieva (under 76 kg), Shirin Kubaeva (over 76 kg ), Allanur Gochov (under 60 kg), Pirguly Gurbandurdyev (under 70 kg), Annamurat Charyev (under 100 kg) and Rejepali Orazaliev (over 100 kg) rose to the highest step of the podium.
Mekangeldy Berdyev (under 60 kg) and Ovez Hemraev (under 90 kg) won silver medals. 'Bronze' was awarded to Lachin Badaglyeva (under 52 kg ) and Zarina Abdyrahmanov (under 58 kg).
Another three medals were won by our compatriot in the international karate tournament, which took place in the capital of Georgia, Tbilisi. Zuhrajan Jumabaeva, who gained the outstanding achievements in individual kumite (fight) in the under 61 kg weight category and in kumite open and individual kata, brought these awards to the receptacle of the sports achievements of Turkmenistan.
Turkmen karate practitioners are currently preparing for the national tournament - the Open Mary Velayat Championship, which will be held from June 17 to 20 in the administrative centre of the region. Hundreds of sportsmen from all the regions of the country and Ashgabat will compete for the medals.
