A 16-year-old boxer from Dashoguz Muhammed Berdybaev is a gold medallist of the XII International Junior Boxing Tournament Heydar Aliyev Cup 2014, which was held in the capital of Azerbaijan, Baku.
Athletes from France, Finland, Russia, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Ireland, Latvia and Hungary participated in the competitions. The Turkmen athlete performed in the under 57 kg weight category. Muhammed won unconditional victory over the athletes from Georgia and Kazakhstan in the first two bouts. He defeated the sportsmen from Russia in the semi-final and final and rose to the highest step of the podium.
This is the second significant success the Turkmen young boxer has gained in the international competitions. Muhammed made his debut in the Asian Junior Boxing Championship in Kazakhstan last April and won the silver medal.
