The delegation of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, which had arrived in the Turkmen capital on the visit led by member of the Supreme Chamber of the Mejlis of Afghanistan Mr. Nesar Ahmad Kharesem, was received at the Mejlis of Turkmenistan.
Pursueing the policy of good neighbourliness and fraternal relations with its southern neighbour, neutral Turkmenistan that has proved itself as a peacemaking country, is always interested in ensuring peace and security in Afghanistan.
Meeting participants underlined that dozens projects implemented in various spheres in recent years vividly proved the solid position of Turkmenistan in this sphere.
It was also noted that occupying a beneficial geographic location between the countries of Europe and Asia, Turkmenistan and Afghanistan will be able to ensure the transit of cargos through their territories to the North and South, East and West as well as implement a large energy project - construction of the transnational gas pipeline Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India jointly with other countries, participants of the project.
During the meeting, the guests were informed on the structure and law-making activity of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan, its role and tasks set to the deputies given the democratic changes and legal reform taken place in our country under the leadership of the President of Turkmenistan.
The delegation of Afghanistan will be also received at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of our country.
