World famous scientists - Nobel Prize winners on chemistry – Ada Yonat (Israel) and Yeichi Negishi (Japan) also became honorable guests of solemnities held in Ashgabat in honor of Science Day. They took part in the opening ceremony of the Center of Technologies of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan as well as visited several higher educational establishments of the capital, having delivered lectures for students and teaching staff.
So, lecture of Nobel Prize winner on chemistry for 2009, Israeli scientist- crystallographer, Doctor Ada Yonat was held at the State Medical University of Turkmenistan.
- I have many impressions, - says Doctor Ada Yonat. – First impression is of course Ashgabat. I was deeply impressed with beauty of your city. Solemnities in honor of Science Day are really tremendous. Creation and equipment of the Center of Technologies allowed understanding the attention, being paid in Turkmenistan to science and its development. I saw how my Turkmen colleagues were very happy. They have to work in the laboratories of the Center. Incidentally, we have discussed the issues of joint researches and possibly, I also will be able to work in this wonderful Center of Technologies. Practical purpose of my researches is to invent such antibiotics, which will stop the development of disease at cellular level.
At the International Oil and Gas University, it was held a meeting of students and teachers with Nobel Prize winner, Professor Yeichi Negishi. Yeichi Negishi, who got the name of architect of molecules in the scientific world, was awarded in 2010 with this high international award for development of new, more efficient ways of compound carbon atoms with each other with a view of structure of complex molecules. These reactions, having opened a way for industrial creation of organic compounds, are widely used today in production of pharmaceutical products and electronics.
Making introductory excursion over the higher educational establishment, Nobel Prize winner was delighted with everything he saw there and noted that the university produced great impressions on him by its super modern equipment.
