Turkmen masters of athletics distinguished in the traditional tournament- memorial of Kosanov taken place in Kazakh city Almaty. Sport attainments of Turkmenistan were replenished with two medals – silver and bronze.
Nearly 200 best track and field athletes from Russia, Ukraine, Iran, Georgia, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and many other countries have arrived in Kazakhstan. Participants competed for awards in several tens of disciplines of “queen” of sport.
Master of sport of international class Mergen Mamedov, who performed in hammer throwing, became the vice-champion of the international tournament. He was able to throw the sport gear to 70 meters 38 centimeters. Mergen is one of pretenders to the national team, which in the current autumn has to participate in the classical Asian Games in the Korean city – Inchon.
Master of sport Tejen Homadov, who distinguished in shot put, won bronze award of the international tournament held in Almaty. Its result – 16.09 meters. Tejen also has good chances to enter the national team.
Good results at the international tournament were gained by other members of the Turkmen team as well. So, for example, A. Hommadov – participant of Olympic Games – 2008 in Beijing won the fourth place in hammer throwing (62.04 метра), M. Mamedov showed the sixth result in discus throwing (50.88 метра), and men’s quartet B. Durdymov, E. Hojayev, G. Mataganov and A. Orazgeldiyev were in the top five in sprinter relay race 4х100 meters.
