The Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Turkmenistan held a briefing for Turkmenistan media. Speaking during the meeting, Counselor of the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Turkmenistan Daniyar Kadyrov briefed those present on the existing situation and prospects for enhancing bilateral relations between the Republic of Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan, as well as informed the audience on the most important events and plans of Kazakhstan.

It has become a tradition for the Embassy of Kazakhstan in Turkmenistan to hold briefing for Turkmen journalists. D. Kadyrov underlined that our countries had common history and cultural traditions, as well as common interests on creating favourable conditions at the regional and global levels, which were necessary for development of independent states.

The diplomat noted that developing the foreign-policy activity in all areas, Kazakstan strengthened friendly and mutually beneficial relations with Turkmenistan. These relations develop in a wide spectrum of cooperation.

An important event for our countries was a state visit of President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to Kazakhstan in May, 2013. Within the framework of the visit, the leaders of the two countries opened the Kazakhstan-Turkmenistan section of the North-South Intercontinental railway project.

The increased volume of the trade turnover between Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan vividly proves the dynamics of development of the bilateral relations. In 2013, the trade turnover between our countries increased US$390 million. D. Kadyrov expressed belief that it would significantly increase once the intercontinental main line that would connect the largest world market was put into operation.

The joint Intergovernmental Commission for Trade and Economic, Scientific and Technological, Cultural and Humanitarian Cooperation serves as a key mechanism for enhancing bilateral partnership. The commission held its regular session in the capital of Kazakhstan - Astana on June 3-4. The Days of Culture of Turkmenistan were successfully held in the Republic of Kazakhstan. It is also planned to organize a business forum and forum for the workers of culture and art of our countries.
