In Open Swimming Championship of Turkey held in Istanbul, our compatriots won 14 medals. Three of them are gold, 5 – silver and 6 – bronze.
Most ponderable result in our team was shown by girls, who replenished the sport attainments of Turkmenistan with three gold awards. Two of them were gained by girls bearing the same family name – Jennet and Deliya Sariyevas, having won in 50 and 100 -meter distances correspondingly with freestyle. At that, in the finish of both distances, they passed over each other, having also gained 2 silver medals.
The third gold medal in the composition of our team was gained by Keyik Veliyeva, who was the first in 50-meter distance with breaststroke. She also became the owner of bronze award in 100-meter distance with freestyle. At that, in the second discipline, taking into account the results of Jennet and Deliya Sariyevas, whole podium belonged to the Turkmen sportsmen.
In male group of participants, among our compatriots, the best result was shown by Anton Shapovalov, who was able to win 3 medals – two silver (400 m with freestyle and 200 m by complex) and a bronze (200 m with freestyle).
Second and third places were gained by Hemra Nurmyradov, who distinguished correspondingly in 50- and 100-meter distances with breaststroke. Merdan Atayev became a winner of two bronze medals (50 and 100 m on back). Valentin Gorshkov won the third place (50 m with freestyle).
It is also worth mentioning the results of Emil Rahmatullin, who was among top five of the best sportsmen at the Open Championship of Turkey in 50-meter distance with butterfly and 100-meter distance on back.
