At the 69th session of the UN General Assembly, which will be opened in New York on September 16, it will be presented priority positions of Turkmenistan and concrete proposals of our country on further expansion of constructive international interaction on five key trends. It is protection and strengthening of universal peace and security, cooperation in energy sector, transport sphere, humanitarian issues and human rights, ecology and environmental protection.
So, Turkmenistan offers to hold in 2015 in Ashgabat under patronage of UNO the Forum of security and peace in the Central Asian region. It will be also raised the issue on creation in the Turkmen capital of the UN Inter -regional Center for disarmament in Asia.
Speaking for expansion of interaction in the format of UNO in such strategic sphere as energy security, Turkmenistan offers to take new concrete steps in this direction.
Alongside with this, being the initiator of several projects on creation of transport corridors of regional and interregional significance, our country strives for expansion of international cooperation in transport and communication sector, including with the specialized agencies of UNO. In this connection, Turkmenistan suggests considering the opportunity of construction of model motorway in the Central Asia and expresses the readiness to participate actively in this activity.
Turkmenistan also plans to attach new impulse to the cooperation in humanitarian sphere, where issues of mother and child health protection, protection of rights of disabled persons, refugees and others are ranked among priority ones.
Issues of ecology and environmental protection are closely interfaced with the tasks of sustainable development. Being committed to the cooperation with the UNO on this vital direction, our country envisages the realization of joint measures on improvement of ecological situation in the Central Asia and Caspian region, increase of level and quality of life of population as well as on realization of projects of socio-economic development.
Stating for intensification of multisided efforts in the issues of environmental protection in aforementioned regions as well as climate change and formation of relevant structural mechanisms, Turkmenistan offered to create jointly with UNO the Interregional Center for solution of issues connected with climate change. Turkmenistan plans to turn to the UN member countries with proposal to support this initiative.
