The third meeting of the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Chinese Committee for Cooperation that brought together heads and representatives of a number of governmental institutions, leading sectoral ministries and departments, as well as business circles of the two countries, took place in Ashgabat. The representative delegation of the People’s Republic of China led by Vice Premier of the State Council Zhang Gaoli arrived in the Turkmen capital to take part in the meeting.

The meeting agenda focused on a number of issues regarding implementation of existing agreements and further development of partnership. Underlining that cooperation has enhanced within last years in a number of key areas, members of the committee stressed the importance of using mutually beneficial relations in the trade and economic, fuel and energy, transport spheres, textile industry, and agriculture. Healthcare, tourism, and sports were specified among the prospective areas for cooperation.

Focusing on the favourable investment climate created in Turkmenistan for the work of foreign partners, Chinese members of the committee expressed the interest of business circles in the People’s Republic of China in implementing joint investment projects at the Turkmen market.

Meeting participants expressed significance in strengthening cooperation in humanitarian sphere.
