The Turkmen football team made a good start in the 2012 CIS Football Cup in St. Petersburg. Turkmenistan defeated 1-0 Estonia in the first match.
Unlike the previous tournaments, the 2012 CIS Football Club has brought together the youth teams (under 21). 12 teams split into three groups compete for the trophy. Group A includes Russia, Kazakhstan, Estonia, Turkmenistan, Group B – Ukraine, Moldova, Kyrgyzstan and Latvia and Group C – Belarus, Iran, Tajikistan and Lithuania.
The two top teams in each group and the third place winners will compete for the first to eighth places.
One of the players of our team was sent off the field at the beginning of the match. Seven minutes before the end of the match the Turkmen footballers made a counterattack that ended in a goal. The author of the goal, A. Annasahatov received the prize after the match.
Our youth team will play the next match with the Kazakh team, who had lost 0-1 to Russia. The results of the matches: the Kyrgyz Republic-Latvia match – 2-3 and the Ukraine-Moldova match – 1-0.
