Solemn opening ceremony of XVII Asian Games, which hosted over 10 thousand sportsmen from 45 countries, was held in the central stadium of the Korean city Inchon. On the main arena, it was expanded a colorful show, where it was represented all participating teams. Lap of honor was performed by group of sportsmen, consisting of 2014 persons that symbolizes the year of the current Games.

Talismans of the Asian Games are three seals, inhabiting in Yellow Sea. Name of green seal means “Light”, rose-orange – “Wind” and blue seal – “Dance”. This triad, reflecting the dynamic energy of the Asian Games, determined the concept of a colorful show. Its first part was devoted to the history of development of Asia since ancient times, which main idea is the unity and friendship of people of the continent.
Long-awaited flame of the Games was welcomed by huge stadium with storm of applauses and cheerful salutations. Prior to its appearing in the Korean city Inchon, this flame overcame a long path from India through China, Vietnam and other countries, having started its motion from New Delhi, where the first Asian Games were held. Ovations grew louder, when sacred flame started burning on giant fountain surrounded with spurts of water on the main stadium of the Games. At that, the hosts of competitions demonstrated that it is possible to combine two incompatible elements – fire and water.
The grandiose, five-level stadium seats over 60 thousand spectators and today, it is overcrowded. Organizers of the current complex competitions made a special emphasis in the opening program on the fact that a sport is the best method for peace and unity of people. One of the bright examples of this fact is the participation in the Games, being held in the Republic of Korea, of the team of Korean Democratic People's Republic, which appearance was welcomed in the stadium by hosts of the competitions with sincere joy.
The current Asian Games are a good example of the fact that sport makes all equal: princess of Kingdom of Thailand Sirivannavari will take part in the Games. She will compete for medals in horse riding.
So, main sport forum of Asia burnt its flame, which will be original lighthouse along the path to high attainments for all participants. On September 20, it will be started the first day of competitions. Asian Games will be completed on October 4.
36 kinds of sport will be represented at the Asian Games. Competitions will take place in 49 stadiums in nine cities of the Republic of Korea. In total, there are 439 sets of awards. Nearly 10 thousand sportsmen from 45 Asian countries will compete for them. Course of competitions will be covered by a large number of journalists, including Turkmen mass media.
For athletes of Turkmenistan, where only in the last years, owing to the attention of President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, the sports of high attainments gained new impulse to development, it is a good chance to accumulate experience in battle with the best sportsmen of the Asian part of the continent. This experience will be of use in Asian Indoor Games and Martial arts in 2017 in Ashgabat. In spite of the fact that our athletes are beginners at big-time sport, we hope for their successful performance in Inchon.
