The meeting of young Turkmen figure-skaters with a sporting legend - Irina Rodnina, a triple Olympic gold medallist, 11-time figure skating world champion, who won eleven European figure skating pairs championships, took pace at the Winter Sports Complex in Ashgabat. The famous figure-skater arrived in Turkmenistan to take part in the School Cultural and Sports Festival among CIS member-states to be held in Avaza on the Caspian coast.
During the visit to the Winter Sports Complex, Irina Rodnina gave a master class to our young figure-skaters. The classes have become a traditional event in the programme of the legendary sportswoman’s visits to our country.
The main goal of the meeting was to assess the professional level of our figure-skaters and help them to prepare for international sports competitions, which will be held next year.
In her interview to mass media, Irina Rodnina underlined the great successes achieved by Turkmenistan in the sphere of sports within a short period of time, and expressed the willingness to share her experience with Turkmen sportsmen in future.
