Two-day seminar for specialists of sectoral departments was held in the conference hall of the capital’s “Grand Turkmen” hotel. It was devoted to the vital issues of international cooperation in the spheres of water consumption and health protection in the context of provisions of UN Convention on protection and use of transboundary channels and international lakes.
Seminar, which was organized by the Ministry of Water Economy of Turkmenistan, is held within the framework of cooperation of our country with the international organizations of the UNO - Economic Commission for Europe (ECE UNO), World Health Organization (WHO), United Nations Development Program (UNDP). Regional coordinator of National dialogues on water policy of ECE Mr. Peyep Mardiste, international experts of WHO, as well as national experts from Norway and Republic of Moldova specially arrived in Ashgabat for participation in it.
Agenda of the meeting included the familiarization with major provisions of Protocol on problems of water and health to the Convention on protection and use of transboundary channels and international lakes, as well as exchange of experience on practical fulfillment of its obligations at the national level.
Tomorrow, the seminar will continue its work.
