Among numerous sport competitions, taking place these days in all cities of our country and devoted to the 23rd anniversary of Turkmenistan’s independence, it is particularly worth mentioning the national complex competitions on football, volleyball, basketball and handball among pupils with participation of teams from all provinces and Ashgabat.
Preliminary stage of competitions organized by the State Committee of Turkmenistan for sport gathered the pupils of all comprehensive schools of the country. Formation of combined teams was held by three elimination tournaments – at etrap, city and vilayet levels.
In the final stage of competitions held on the grounds of modern sport complexes of the capital, the residents of Ashgabat demonstrated the best sport training. They have 3 victories – in the competitions on football, basketball and handball.
Dashoguz schoolchildren, who won gold awards in volleyball tournaments among boys and among girls, have two first places to their credit. Combined teams of Balkan and Lebap provinces, which demonstrated their sport skills, have one victory correspondingly in the contests on handball and basketball among girls.
… Venue of holding of hockey matches with participation of junior teams became the Winter Sports Complex.
One of the tournaments, where sportsmen born in 2000-2003 took part in, has determined the winner. It was the hockey club “Oguzkhan” of “Turkmengas” State Concern. On October 23, in the decisive match, the athletes of Gurgen Gurbanov got the better of their main competitors in the tournament – “Shir” team of the Ministry of Trade and foreign-economic ties of Turkmenistan and won the gold medal.
It is worth mentioning that in the course of the match, the hockey players of “Oguzkhan”, being in the role of catching up team, 2 minutes prior to the end of final period, players of “Shir” won with a score of 5 goals to 3. But, the team of “Turkmengas” State Concern was able to overcome the game process. Having shown combative spirit, “Oguzkhan” was able to win back and shoot the triumphal goal 20 seconds prior to final siren. As a result, “Oguzkhan” won the victory with a score of 6 goals to 5.
Silver prizes were gained by hockey players of “Shir” team and group of the sports school of the State Committee of Turkmenistan for sports closed the top three prize-winners.
In the second hockey tournament, the fight for the medals takes place among juniors of 16-17 years old. Two tournaments are behind but it is early to speak about preliminary results. Main fight is ahead. It is only worth mentioning that in the match of the first round between “Oguzkhan” and “Shir”, the victory was gained by team of “Turkmengas” State Concern – 2:0. Competitions will last till October 30.
