Turkmen masters of martial arts won nine medals! Five of them are gold, one – silver and three bronze awards at two large international contests – the 17th World Traditional Karate Championship held in Geneva (Switzerland) and World Games of Martial Arts started in these days in Istanbul (Turkey).
In complex competitions on various kinds of martial arts held in Istanbul, the Turkmen residents have distinguished in the contests on pancratium and Thai boxing. In the first kind of martial arts, our compatriots won 6 medals. Three of them are gold: victory was celebrated by Yusup Tanyrberdiyev (up to 58 kg), Abdullah Babayev (up to 71 kg) and Zafar Madaminov (over 105 kg).
The second place was gained by Yalkym Nuriyev (up to 66 kg) and two bronze medals were worn by Gurbanyaz Hangeldiyev (up to 61 kg) and Tirkesh Dovletov (up to 85 kg).
In Thai boxing, the Turkmen residents gained the full victory. Mustafa Saparmuradov (up to 67 kg) and Muhammetberdi Rovshenov (up to 71 kg) raised the highest step of podium.
Nearly 500 sportsmen from more than 20 countries took part in the championship of the planet on traditional karate. Our compatriot – the student of National Institute of Sports and Tourism gained the success in the fights of junior age group of 18-21 years old, where several tens of wrestlers competed for the medals. To be in the top three strongest athletes in karate is enough the high result for young Turkmen sportsman, who will participate in many tournaments of world and continental level.
