It was held the contests for the Cups of Turkmenistan on swimming and sport gymnastics. Several hundreds of masters of this kind of sports from all regions of the country took part in both competitions held correspondingly in the capital’s Water Sports Complex and Turkmenabat sports school # 5.
In the swimming tournament, the contest for medals was expanded in more than 30 disciplines. 19-year old master of sports Merdan Atayev from team of Ashgabat, who won “silver” in two disciplines – race of freestyle for 50-meter distance and relay race 4x100 meters, rose four times on the podium.
In female group, the athlete of Coach M. Pilyugin – the 15-year old Deliya Sariyeva, representing the capital’s team, has distinguished. This promising athlete was the first in three disciplines (50 and 100 meters backstroke and 1500 meters freestyle) as well as won the second and third places in the disciplines of 50 and 100 meters butterfly.
The current contest of the Cup of Turkmenistan, which was won by the capital’s sportsmen, became the important stage of training for main competitions of the current year - the World Swimming Championship to be held from December 2 to 8 in the capital of Qatar – Doha.
