On the second day of the competitions within the framework of IV Asian Beach Games, which are held in Thailand – on the resort coast of Phuket island, the Turkmen sambo wrestlers won the silver medals in the team competitions “wall to wall”.
The team of sambo wrestlers of our country included the masters of sport of international class Gulbadam Babamuratova, Zuhra Madraimova (in the final, she was changed with Nasiba Surkiyeva), Tejen Tejenov, Nurali Yalkapov and Niyazmurad Shikhmuradov.
On the way to final, the residents of Turkmenistan confidently gained a victory over teams of Tajikistan, Thailand and Mongolia, but unfortunately, in the decisive counteraction with five sambo wrestlers from Kazakhstan, the athletes of Honored Coaches of Turkmenistan Dortguly Tejenov and Chemengul Geldibayeva yielded in persistent fight with minimal score 2:3.
Today, at the Asian Games, it was held solemn ceremony of raising the State Flag of Turkmenistan to the sounds of National Anthem of Turkmenistan. Then, the chairperson of the Organizing Committee of IV Asian Beach Games handed the chairperson of the National Olympic Committee of Turkmenistan a memorable gift for contribution of our state to the development of world sport movement.
