Today, our sportsmen have won more medals - one silver and one bronze - at the IV Asian Beach Games. Didar Bairamov became a vice-champion in the beach wrestling tournament, and Zarina Abdurahmanova climbed to the third step of the podium in the kurash tournament.
D. Bairamov performed in the under 80 kg weight category. Wrestlers were divided into four groups, in which only the first place gave them the right to continue to participate in the competitions. The Turkmen athlete performed in group C, in which he competed with the opponents from Bangladesh, Indonesia and the Philippines.
Our compatriot - a student of the International Turkmen-Turkish University - won a decisive victory in the first minutes of each bout. These victories enabled our athlete to rank first in the group tournament and qualify for the semi-finals. In the semi-finals, D. Bairamov beat B. Izbassarov from Kazakhstan by a whisker 2-1. In the finals, the sportsman coached by Honoured Coach of Turkmenistan Ilyas Nepesov yielded to his opponent S. Hosseinjan from Iran.
Zarina Abdurahmanova won a bronze medal in the under 57 kg weight category in the kurash tournament. This medal is the third 'bronze' award in the receptacle of our athletes gained in this tournament at the IV Asian Beach Games. Kurash wrestlers competed in five weight categories, in three of which Turkmen athletes paved their way to the podium.
To date, Turkmenistan team has 9 medals - one gold, three silver and five bronze - in its assets. The competitions will continue; our sportsmen will perform in the volleyball, basketball, handball and Thai boxing tournaments.
