The capital of Turkmenistan hosted the 19th meeting of the Steering Committee of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline project. The meeting brought together heads and specialists of the sectoral ministries and departments representing the countries participating in the project and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) that was appointed the transaction advisor for the TAPI gas pipeline project.

The meeting participants discussed a number of issues regarding the implementation of the earlier achieved agreements aimed at enhancing the joint work.

Among them are the outcomes of the talks held by the Transactional Advisor and the Turkmen side with a number of interested companies. Given the completion of the preparatory work on the TAPI project implementation and all recommendations and proposals, it was decided to conduct further consultations on the assessment and selection of potential partners and the consortium leader prior to February 2015. Upon completion of the required procedures, the Steering Committee will announce an international tender for selection of the leader of the TAPI Ltd. consortium.

The meeting participants considered and approved the main results achieved during the meeting of the Technical Working Group. The meeting agenda focused on other important issues related to the technical measures to be taken with the aim to accelerate the TAPI project.

The current status and the short-term schedule of the TAPI project implementation were identified during the Steering Committee meeting that was held in a businesslike and constructive atmosphere.
