New victories of Turkmen sportsmen at the World Belt Wrestling Championship

Turkmen athletes continue to successfully perform at the World Belt Wrestling Championship, which is taking place in Ashgabat. On the second day of the competitions, the national team added 13 medals (3 gold, 1 silver and 9 bronze medals) to the receptacle containing 16 medals that our sportsmen had won in the freestyle wrestling tournament.

A student at the National Institute of Sports and Tourism Zohra Madraimova (under 58 kg weight category) won the first gold medal. On her way to the gold medal the 24-year-old sportswoman from Bayramali beat Elsa Abdykadyrova (Kyrgyz Republic), Balzamgul Kurmetzhanova (Kazakhstan). In the final Zohra beat Viktoria Malikieva (Russia), who is the winner of the last two junior world championships.


A student of the National Institute of Sports and Tourism Medet Hallykurbanov (under 62 kg weight category) won the 'second' gold medal in the classic style tournament. The 20-year-old winner of the 2013 world junior champion from Bereket gained a clear-cut victory over Nurlybek Hairullin (Kazakhstan)in the first bout, won Dmitry Kosenok (Ukraine) on points difference and gained a clear victory over Abdullazhon Tohirov (Uzbekistan) 1 minute 32 seconds before the end of the final.

The compatriots Ahal Ballarov and Murat Djumaev will compete for the third gold medal for Turkmenistan in the over 100 kg weight category in the final. The competitions continue.
