Event devoted to the announcement of Global campaign on eradication of statelessness within 10 years (2014-2024) was held in the conference hall of “Yildyz” hotel. It was organized by the Government of Turkmenistan jointly with United Nations Office of the High Commissioner for Refugees. Representatives of relevant ministries and sectoral departments of our country, national mass media took part in the meeting. The heads of diplomatic representative offices and missions accredited to Turkmenistan were also invited to the event.

Regional adviser of United Nations Office of the High Commissioner for Refugees in the Central Asia Mr. Jason Taker, who made a speech in the course of the forum, highly appreciated the policy of Turkmenistan, having significant experience in this field, and underlined that our country is the global leader in statelessness control.

Within the framework of the forum, Mr. Jason Taker also offered the presentation on Global campaign of UNHCR on eradication of statelessness within 10 years (2014-2024), which main purpose is to admit 10 million people to the citizenship within near decade.

Completing the meeting, its participants expressed the intention to go on to strengthen positive cooperation through Turkmenistan – UNHCR and outlined further steps of development of bilateral dialogue, meeting the goals and tasks of global development.
