Officials of Olympic Council of Asia, National Olympic Committees of Oceania and Executive Committee on preparation for V Asian Games held a press conference for the representatives of Turkmen and foreign mass media.
Press conference was held in “Oguzkent” hotel after signing ceremony of Memorandum between Organizing Committee of V Asian Indoor Games and Martial Arts, Olympic Council of Asia and National Olympic Committees of Oceania.
As President of OCA Sheikh Ahmad al-Fahad al-Sabah and President of NOCO Robin Mitchel noted, the signing of Memorandum became the historical event. Decision of OCA on holding in 2017 in Ashgabat of V Asian Indoor Games and Martial Arts is also the recognition by the international community of the initiatives of President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov in the field of development of sports.
It is expected that over 5 thousand sportsmen from 62 countries will perform in V Asian Indoor Games and Martial Arts in 19 kinds of sports. Chairperson of Executive Committee on preparation for V Asian Games D. Gulgeldiyev told to the journalists about organizing activity carried out in the country on the threshold of the large sport forum, construction of Olympic Township. As it was informed, at present, the construction of facilities of the first stage has been fully completed as well as the construction works of the second and third stages are realized at high paces. In total, 39 facilities, including 16 sport structures for holding the competitions of national and international levels on different kinds of sport will be erected here. Besides, it is constructed the hotels for athletes and participants, dwelling complexes, canteens, medical institutions, cultural and entertainment buildings. Olympic township will turn Ashgabat into the large sport center.
The best foreign specialists, who participated in organization of World Olympic Games and other large international competitions, have been got involved in upcoming activity on organization of V Asian Indoor Games and Martial Arts.
One of major aspects of organizing activity is involvement of mass media. In the last year, the international sport media forum was held in Ashgabat with participation of the representatives of world mass media. The current meeting of the representatives of Turkmen and foreign publications, television and radio channels will become its continuation as well. The next one will be held in 2015.
Today, the members of foreign delegations will also visit with excursion the Olympic Township, which will become in 2017 the venue of V Asian Indoor Games and Martial Arts.
