Kabaddi Cup Tournament of Turkmenistan among juniors and adults was held in Ashgabat. Nearly 10 teams from all regions of the country competed for main trophy of final competitions of the current year. Among them, the capital’s sportsmen, who won in both age categories, demonstrated the best training.
Team game kabaddi, having century-old history of its development, is one of the most popular kinds of sport in the Asian part of the continent. Its involvement into grogram of practically all complex games is a vivid evidence of this fact. Being of this game in the program of Summer Asian Games is original prototype of classical Olympic Games.
Owing to rapid development in Turkmenistan of this kind of sport and successes of our compatriots at the international tournaments, the Turkmen kabaddi school won the honored authority on the world sport arena. So, at the regular congress of the International Kabaddi Federation held in the course of XVII Asian Games of 2014 (Republic of Korea), Honored Coach of Turkmenistan Orif Bukharakov was unanimously elected as the vice-president of this sport organization.
During the current Kabaddi Cup Tournament of Turkmenistan among men, the final fight, where two teams of the capital have met, was of great interest. Athletes of master of sport Shohrat Allayev from “Ashgabat-1” team confidently got the better of their opponents from team “Ashgabat-2” with a score 108:82.
Captain of the team Dovlet Byashimov made major contribution to the victory. In the current year, he became the first of Turkmen residents, who was invited to participate in the kabaddi competition of major league, being annually held in the motherland of this kind of sport – India. Our compatriot did his bit for successful performance of the team of Patna, which won the bronze medals as a result of Championship of India.
In these winter days, the residents of Turkmenistan have to train seriously for large contests of international level – the Asian Kabaddi Championship to be held in February in Islamic Republic of Iran. It is worth mentioning that if the first game at international level among men was held in Dacca then the women first participated in the international kabaddi competitions only a quarter of a century later – in 2010 in Guangzhou. It is planned that the male and female teams will represent our country at the upcoming Asian Championship.
