The first meeting of the international expert group on development of a new international legal document, the main goal of which is to ensure the following to the general principles of doing business in the global energy space, took place in Ashgabat.
The expert group meeting was held in pursuance of the Resolution on the Reliable and Stable Transit of Energy Resources and Its Role in Ensuring Sustainable Development and International Cooperation initiated by the President of Turkmenistan that was adopted by the UN General Assembly on May 17, 2013.
The meeting brought together the representatives of the United Nations Organisation in Turkmenistan, members of the Secretariat of the Energy Charter, international organizations and agencies, government bodies and foreign countries of Turkmenistan as well as international experts. The issues on improvement of the mechanisms of the international cooperation in creating a new architecture of the global energy safety were considered during the meeting.
The meeting participants underlined the importance of the Ashgabat Forum of the Energy Charter.
