The First Open Sport Dancing Championship of Turkmenistan was held in Ashgabat. It has hosted nearly 130 participants at the age from 5 to 26 years old.
The current contests became the first stage of preparation of our sportsmen for V Asian Indoor Games and Martial Arts to be held in 2017 on the basis of Ashgabat Olympic Township. The program of these complex competitions includes several disciplines of sport dances, including classic styles – European, which contains the slow and Viennese waltzes, tango, quick and slow foxtrot, as well as Latin American – samba, rumba, cha-cha-cha, jive and paso doble. Participants of the first championship of Turkmenistan also competed in these disciplines.
Competitions were organized by the State and Ashgabat Sport Committees, Youth Organization named after Magtymguly as well as Federation of Sport Dances of Turkmenistan, which was created on the eve of the current national tournament.
The contests were held in individual and pair categories. In particular, the Ashgabat sportsmen as well as the representative from Mary province took part in the current championship.
Not only the youth, but also people of mature age are engage in sport dancing in our country. In this connection, in spring, it is planned to hold in Ashgabat the first national contests among participants, whose age exceeds thirty five years old.
