Turkmen National Air carrier “Turkmenhowayollary” performed the first flight Ashgabat-Ankara. “Boeing- 737-700” flew from International Airport of Ashgabat.
Besides passengers, including members of the Turkmen-Turkish business council, the flight contained the delegation, which included the representatives of Ashgabat enterprise “Turkmenistan”, journalists, operators and directors of the television channels.
The chairman of the Turkmen-Turkish business council Sefa Gemdeniz noted that at present, nearly 600 Turkish firms and companies are functioning in Turkmenistan. It is symbolic that in New Year, the Turkmen aviators opened the first new route to the capital of Turkey. It will strengthen considerably the contacts between countries in the field of expansion of business cooperation and development of informative tourism.
Presently, the aircrafts of “Turkmenistan” airline perform from Ashgabat to Istanbul (Turkey) 13 passenger and one freight flight a week. Moreover, one flight is performed to Istanbul from International Airport of Turkmenbashi city. So, during a week, the Turkmen airlines carry in this direction nearly 2.5 thousand passengers. Besides, the Turkmen aviators will make evening flights to Turkey in multi-seater aircraft “Boeing- 777”.
The Turkish air carriers, in turn, realize the same flights a week from Istanbul to Ashgabat and backwards. As a result of common efforts of aviators of two friendly countries, nearly 30 air flights are realized weekly. These flights will carry nearly five thousand air passengers. From this week, two flights a week the aircrafts of our air carrier will deliver passengers to Ankara.
In November 2014, at the meeting of President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov with President of Republic of Turkey Rejep Tayip Erdogan, it was raised the issue of interaction in the sphere of air communication. Now, the wishes of the leaders of two brotherly countries become reality. It was opened the air communication between two capitals - sister cities Ashgabat and Ankara. In the near future, it will be increased the number of flights from Turkmenbashi to Istanbul.
Such dynamically developing mutual air communication has wide foundations. Economic partnership of two countries is characterized with high dynamics and availability of solid potential for its further development in a whole series of directions. Realizing scale projects, the representatives of business circles of Turkey make their notable contribution to the development of modern infrastructure of Turkmenistan. Taking into account centuries-old historic-cultural relations, a great significance is attached to close interaction in the humanitarian sphere. According to agreement of the parties, particular attention will be also paid to the development of scientific-educational ties. It is increased the number of student places provided by the Turkish party for the Turkmen youth. Today, several thousands of students from our country study in Ankara.
Warm welcome in Ankara was organized for our delegation by the representatives of the community of the Turkish capital, its business circles, administration of Esenboga airport. At the meeting held in the international terminal, the deputy governor of Ankara Aeretin Boljalu, the chairman of the Turkmen-Turkish business council Sefa Gemdeniz, director of terminal Nurai Demirer and other participants of the meeting expressed warm words of greeting and wishes of successful interaction in air communication of two countries. In particular, the director of airport Ismail Selai Murei underlined that the flight Ashgabat-Ankara is the only new flight the airport receives in this year. And we are very glad that this flight – from capital of Turkmenistan – our strategic partner. We hope that number of passengers from friendly country, using this route, will increase constantly…

For getting the prestigious prize of Association of Air carriers, the airport has to demonstrate the high results in work with passengers, retail trade, safety of flights and environmental protection. In each of these categories, the airport of the capital of Turkey got the highest points. Presently from here, it is possible to reach any city of the world. Today, only within 2 hours 40 minutes, the passengers appear in the capital of Turkmenistan by direct flight.
