Turkmen sportsmen gained large success at the stage of World Cup on sport and martial sambo held in these days in the Kazakh city – Almaty. Sport attainments of our country were replenished with seven medals – two gold, one silver and four bronze medals gained in both versions of this kind of martial arts.
Nearly 400 sportsmen from several tens countries took part in the Cup of the planet. Girls, who won a gold and two bronze medals, have distinguished in the sport version “self-defense without weapon” in the composition of the Turkmen team.
Medal of highest standard was gained by the master of sports of international class Gulbadam Babamuratova, who gained confident victory in the weight class up to 52 kilograms. In the current year, G. Babamuratova has to take part in several qualified international contests on judo (World Championship, Asian Championship and Tournaments within the framework of Grand Prize), where she will compete for participation in the Olympic Games of 2016 to be held in Rio de Janeiro.
Bronze medals in the composition of our female team were gained by the student of National Institute of Sport and Tourism of Turkmenistan Zuhra Madraimova (up to 60 kg) and representative of School of high sport mastership Rano Uzakova (up to 68 kg), who will have to compete for participation in the Olympic Games in qualified international contests on judo.
Another four medals – the gold, silver and two bronze were gained at the current World Cup on sambo by the male team of masters of martial version “self-defense without weapon”. The winner and prizewinner of many World and Asian Championships on this kind of martial arts, student of National Institute of Sport and Tourism of Turkmenistan Samvel Ayrapetyan (up to 74 kg) reached the highest step of podium.
Student of the same year Novrus Atayev became the vice-champion in the weight class up to 52 kg. Turkmen representatives won another two bronze awards in the weight up to 90 kg: Jovlanbek Madaminov and Charymyrat Annagurbanov rose the third step of podium.
In the current year, this is the first large success of the Turkmen sportsmen in world-level competitions. But, in future, there are several stages of the Cup of the planet, which will be held from February 11 to 13 in the capital of Republic of Belarus – Minsk.
