A meeting of Intergovernmental Turkmenistan–Croatia Commission

A regular meeting of the Intergovernmental Turkmenistan–Croatia Commission for economic cooperation took place in Ashgabat. The heads and representatives of a number of government agencies from Turkmenistan and the Republic of Croatia attended the meeting.

Opening the meeting, the Co-Chairmen of the Commission expressed satisfaction with the high level of the interstate collaboration built on the principles of mutual trust and benefit. It was noted that currently the two countries were demonstrating their willingness to fully use the existing tremendous potential to implement large-scale joint. That is vividly proved by bilateral agreements achieved and regular contacts established at different levels.

As is known, the visits of President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to the Republic of Croatia in 2009 and President of the Republic of Croatia Ivo Josipovic to our country in 2014 gave a powerful incentive to develop the bilateral cooperation. The documents signed during the top-level talks established a solid basis for enhancing Turkmen-Croatian relations and opened up new horizons for strengthening partnership in a wide spectrum of areas.

The meeting participants discussed the issues on the practical implementation of earlier achieved bilateral agreements and exchanged views on the important aspects of the bilateral cooperation and the prospects for its development. Underlining that the Turkmen-Croatian dialogue was intensified in a number of key areas, the meeting participants emphasized the importance of enhancing the work of the Intergovernmental Commission in order to develop mutually beneficial investment projects and develop cooperation in the trade and economic, fuel and energy, transport, communications and other spheres.

Particular attention during the meeting was paid to humanitarian partnership. In this regard, the members of the Commission put forward an initiative on intensification of cultural, scientific and educational contacts that serve as a significant part of the interstate relations. Tourism and sport were specified among the promising areas of cooperation.

The meeting participants expressed belief that the meeting would contribute to the further development of partnership between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Croatia in all areas.

On the outcomes of the meeting, the participants will sign the Protocol that will reflect the priority areas of Turkmen-Croatian cooperation and identify specific steps to enhance joint efforts on implementation of the profound potential of the bilateral relations.
