The airliner Boeing 777-200LR of Turkmenistan Airlines made its first flight along the route connecting the capital cities of Turkmenistan and Malaysia.

The airliner with the symbol of Turkmenhowayollary State National Service landed at the airport in Kuala Lumpur after the 7-hour flight from Ashgabat.

The direct flight was opened in accordance with the Turkmen-Malaysian arrangements designed to bring the intergovernmental dialogue to a new level. In particular, the transport sector was mentioned among the key vectors of cooperation between the two friendly countries during the talks between President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Prime Minister of Malaysia Mohd Najib Bin Tun Abdul Razak, which took place in Ashgabat last summer.

At first, Turkmenistan Airlines will operate the flight once a week, and in the future twice a week. The possibility to operate this flight through Bangkok is currently under consideration.

By opening the flight from Ashgabat to Kuala Lumpur the national air carrier of Turkmenistan has broaden its reach of the Asia-Pacific region, in particular such a strategic area as East Asia and Southeast Asia where it operates the direct flights to Bangkok and Beijing and a regular cargo flight to Urumqi.

In addition, Turkmenistan Airlines operate regular flights to dozens of cities in other parts of the world, including Moscow, London, Paris, Frankfurt, Birmingham, Istanbul, Delhi, Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Almaty, Minsk, St. Petersburg, and in many other directions. The network of Turkmenistan Airlines, offering flights to a wide variety of destinations, continues to develop, and it will include new regional and interregional destinations in the near future.

In the future, this air route will be connected to other international destinations of Turkmenhowayollary State National Service, including the route to Kuala Lumpur.
