Hockey tournament devoted to the upcoming national holiday – the State Flag Day has completed with victory of “Galkan” team. In the final match held on Saturday on the ice arena of Ashgabat Winter Sports Complex, the reigning champions of the country got the better of “Nesil” with a score of 8 goals to five.
The well-known hockey teams among fans of winter kinds of sports as “Oguzhan”, “Watanchi”, “Burgut”, “Shir”, “Alp Arslan” and “Merdana” also took part in the competitions. In the preliminary stage, the teams were divided into two groups, where the owners of the first and second places continued the fight for main trophy of the tournament in the semifinal series of games.
In the decisive match prior of which it was held the exhibition performances of young Turkmen figure skaters, “Galkan” team won a victory over “Nesil” with a score of 8 goals to five.
In the fight for bronze medals, “Shir” won a victory over “Oguzhan” with a score of 6 goals to four.
In the course of competitions, the hockey players have kicked 200 pucks – the result is quite high. 13 of them belong to the forward of “Galkan” Ahmed Kurbanov, who is on the top of the list of the best goal-scorers.
The organizers of tournament – the State Committee of Turkmenistan for sports and National Center of Winter Sports established the prizes in other nominations as well. Aman Aganiyazov, representing the club-winner, was recognized as the best forward, Saparmyrat Akmuradov from “Shir”– the best player of tournament, and hockey players of “Nesil” Bahadur Bazarov and Bekshat Bairamov were recognized as reliable goalkeeper and fullback.
