Turkmen sportsmen gained big success in two large competitions of international level – the stage of World Cup on sport and martial sambo held recently in the capital of the Republic of Belarus – Minsk, as well as the international tournament on athletics taken place in the same period in Tehran (Iran). In total, the sport attainments of Turkmenistan have been replenished with ten medals – three of them are gold, three – silver and four – bronze.
In World Cup on sport and martial sambo in the weight class up to 68 kilograms, two our compatriots won the places on the podium – Abdulla Babayev, who won a gold medal, and 17-year old Kerimberdi Dovletov – the youngest participant of the tournament became the owner of a bronze medal.
The second gold medal in the composition of our masters of martial sambo was gained by student of the National Institute of Sports and Tourism of Turkmenistan Mergen Tejenov (up to 90 kg).
Another medal - in the competition on martial sambo was gained by Jovlanbek Madaminov, who performed in the weight class up to 82 kg.
In sport version of “self-defense without weapon”, master of sport of international class, best athlete of our country in 2014 – Gulbadam Babamuratova became a silver prizewinner in the weight up to 52 kg.
Tejen Tejenov (up to 82 kg) and Zuhra Madraimova (up to 60 kg) won another two bronze awards for the team of Turkmenistan.
In the international tournament on athletics, where over 200 representatives from 10 countries took part in, our sportsmen won not only the prizes, but also established several records of Turkmenistan. So, having won a victory in the discipline “pentathlon”, Irina Velihanova accumulated 3267 points and improved previous national record index nearly by 300 points.
In the same athletic discipline, which includes the contests on 60-meter sprint with barriers, high jump, shot put, long jump and 800-meter heat, the second place was gained by another Turkmen athlete – Olena Hudaibergenova, who was worse than winner nearly by 200 points.
The second silver medal in the composition of our team was gained by Valentina Meredova, who has distinguished in 60-meter sprint. Her result was 6.62 seconds that is also a new record of Turkmenistan.
In the same discipline, our compatriot Maysa Rejepova with result 7.84 seconds was in the top five of the best athletes of the tournament.
