Turkmenistan Wushu National Tournament took place at the specialized sports school for athletics in the administrative centre of Mary Velayat. Over 100 young athletes from all regions of the country and the Turkmen capital participated in the competitions.


The national tournament served as a preparation for the Asian Junior Wushu Championship that will be held in China in August. Coaches have to select eight top athletes, including five boys and three girls to represent our country at the Asian Championship.


The results of the national tournament prove that there are many pretendents to represent our country at the international arena. Boys competed for the medals in ten weighting categories and girls – in seven categories. According to the results of competitions, athletes from Ashgabat and Dashoguz shared almost all first places between themselves.


At present, our athletes are preparing for the IX Martial Arts Olympics «East-West» that will be held in Saint Petersburg, the Russian Federation in April. Those our athletes who will achieve the best results will be qualified to the national team to represent Turkmenistan at the Asia Games.

Men's team of Turkmenistan is also preparing for the Wushu Open Championship that will be held in Riga in March 20-23.
