Turkmenistan-Iran Business Forum aimed at further deepening and expanding fruitful partnership between the two countries was held in Ashgabat. The business meeting organized by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Turkmenistan and the Embassy of Iran in Turkmenistan was timed to the X specialized commodities exhibition of Iranian manufacturers.
As was reported, 120 companies that have the leading positions in various economic sectors and represent the major industrial centres of the Islamic Republic of Iran participated in the economic forum.
The members of the Iranian delegation, including heads and specialists of Iranian government agencies, and their Turkmen counterparts gathered together in the conference hall of the Mizan Business Centre to specify the most profitable spheres for collaboration in the framework of the plans for national development and regional cooperation.
The Turkmen side was represented by heads and specialists of the ministries of economy and development, oil and gas industry and mineral resources, energy, communications, industry, architecture and construction, trade and foreign economic relations, road transport, agriculture, water industry, textile industry, Turkmenavtoyollary State Concern, Turkmennebitgazgurlusyk State Concern and Turkmenhimiya State Concern, the State Commodity and Raw Materials Exchange, the Academy of Sciences, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Minister of Road and Urban Development of the Islamic Republic of Iran Ahmad Abbas Akhund focused on the willingness of Iran’s business circles to build up fruitful contacts with Turkmenistan, which are facilitated by regular joint economic forums and exhibitions and exchanges of delegations at various levels.
The films about the current state of the economies of Turkmenistan and Iran and emerging opportunities for long-term cooperation given the modern realities and mutual interests were demonstrated during the forum. Forum participants made the presentations on the proposed joint projects in the spheres of road building, road transport, urban development, oil and gas and chemical industries. The major fields of cooperation included the trade and economic, textile, agricultural, food production and other sectors.
Participants paid particular attention to the possibilities of intensifying business relations between small and medium-sized businesses. This cooperation is deemed to be very promising in the context of the progressive development of the private sector of Turkmen economy.
