Contest of young craftsmen among pupils of 7-11 forms of schools of the country has finished. This action - a joint project of the Ministry of Education and Women’s Union of Turkmenistan involved thousands of pupils, who master with enthusiasm the work skills.
Labor training is an integral part of their school life. Bright confirmation of this fact, first of all, is the specialized, well-equipped rooms intended for such trainings. Here, the pupils get their first skills in the field of sewing and knitting, mastering the art of national embroidery and carpet-weaving, as well as jeweler’s art and cookery, learn the elements of joinery and metalwork, and other crafts.
Secondary comprehensive school # 88 became the venue of review in Ashgabat. Here, the contests were held in several nominations. Within the framework of one of them, the girls competed in skillful cooking of traditional dishes of the Turkmen cuisine, skillful table appointments and designing of the festive tablecloth. In other round of the contest, the stage turned into workshop, where skillful young dressmakers and embroideresses, carpet weavers and knitters demonstrated their abilities. At the same time, the boys made all efforts for making labor tools, and by means of them, they manufactured different articles of furniture and everyday life, including chairs, stools and others.
It was not easy for jury members in selection of the best teams. They appreciated not only professionalism and labor skills of pupils, but also their attitude to the activity – observance of the technical safety, personal hygiene, etc. According to the performance of contest participants, they also judged about use of leading methods of teaching, about quality of work of the circles of labor training as a whole.
Initially, in accordance with the provision of this contest, it was planned to determine three team prizewinners. But successes of many competitors were quite impressive that it was decided to depart from rules and increase the number of winners till five.
