International Investment Forum of Turkmenistan in Istanbul

The International Investment Forum of Turkmenistan opened at the Ciragan Palace Kempinski conference hall in Istanbul. The forum proves the interest of the business circles of the Turkish Republic and more than 50 countries of the world in building up cooperation with our country given its multi-level potential and plans for the future.

700 delegates from 40 countries, the heads of leading ministries and sectoral departments of the two countries, representatives of the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan as well as leading companies of Turkey and international organisations participated in the forum. Among the forum participants were representatives of diplomatic missions accredited in the Republic of Turkey.

As was noted during the forum opening ceremony, the top level talks between the President of Turkmenistan and Turkey attached a special status to this business event that would become a next step to strengthen fruitful bilateral partnership.

Underlining the significance of the Investment forum, Head of the Committee for foreign-economic relations of the Republic of Turkey (DEIK) Djihat Omer Vardan noted that fruitful business relations had been established between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Turkey within the last years. As a bright example the DEIK head specified the ambitious investment projects implemented in Turkmenistan with participation of leading Turkmen companies.

Speaking during the forum, Minister of Economic Affairs of the Republic of Turkey Nihat Zeybekci emphasized that Turkey considered enhancement of the trade and economic relations with Turkmenistan as a priority area of its foreign course.

In their turn, the representatives of our country shared their views on the opportunities for promoting international cooperation given the globalisation of the world economy and modernization processes taken place in Turkmenistan.

Among the forum participants were businessmen, who had successfuly worked with our country for many years as well as representatives of companies wishing to explore the promissing Turkmen market. All of them are well informed about the economic potential of our country and have their views on the most beneficial prospects of cooperation.

Today, Turkmenistan cooperates with foreign companies in many areas. Foreign businessmen understand the tasks set to our country and the market conditions and demonstrate their professionalism and responsable approach to the job entrusted to them.

Speaking during the forum at the instructions and on behalf of the President of Turkmenistan, Chairman of the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan A. Dadayev noted that the current macroeconomic situation in our country was characterised by sustainable dynamics and was estimated by the experts of the International Monetary Fund as a stable and predictable one with favourable projected growth. The Chairman of the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan also emphasized that the large-scale reforms implemented in various spheres, including the legislative area, had made the investment climate in our country more attractive and secure for foreign investors.

President of the Islamic Development Bank Ahmad Mohammed Ali Al-Madani underlined that the forum vividly demonstrated the huge interest in Turkmenistan all around the world.

Head of CIFAL Groupe and Chairman of the France-Turkmenistan chamber of Commerce and Industry Gilles Remy noted that dynamically grwoing economic indicators of our country that were reflected on the qualitative level of life had brought it to the level of the powerful states with effective socially oriented policy.

Head for Europe, Middle East and Africa Department of the Japan Bank for International Cooperation Mr. Toshiro Machii said that the bank had been closely cooperated with our country since 1996 providing financial support to the investment projects implemented in Turkmenistan.

President of General Electric Power & Water for Europe, Middle East and Africa, Mr.Ricardo Cordoba noted that nowadays 34 General Electric gas turbines with the capacity of over 3,000 Mwatt had operated or were under the completion stage in Turkmenistan.

Other foreign partners speaking during the forum also expressed their interest in building up cooperation with our country.
