Match of the second round in group “C” of the Cup of the Asian Football Confederation between the Turkmen “Ahal” and Tajik “Istiklol” was held in “Ashgabat” stadium.
To date, the rival of “Ahal” – “Istiklol” is the strongest football club of Tajikistan. It has won three times the title of champion and four times the Cup and Super Bowl of its country, and in 2012, won the third by significance continental club trophy – the Cup of President of AFC. Besides, in composition of the team, 14 football players are in the national team. Moreover, four legionaries from Spain, Serbia, Ukraine and Iran play in “Istiklol”. Taking into account this fact, one can say that today, the silver medalist of the Championship of Turkmenistan has met with the national team of Tajikistan intensified with football players from foreign clubs. Though, in spite of strong advantage of the Tajik club in selection of players, our compatriots were a step to the successful result of the match.
The guests have opened a score on a fifth minute. After play of free kick, Fatkhullo Fatkhulloyev on the right side got a ball and irresistibly kicked. On a 26th minute, Suleyman Orazov equalize the situation from penalty– 1:1. He also will be able to advance “Ahal” on a 60th minute. But, the Serbian goalkeeper Nikola Stoshich prevented our football player to realize the second penalty kick. Desiring to gain a victory, the Turkmen football players were carried away by attacks, and the guests used this chance, having organized quick counterattack, which has completed with exact kick to the far corner of goal and provided a victory to “Istiklol” – 2:1.
In next round of group tournament of the Cup of AFC, “Ahal” will play on March 18 in Ashgabat with “Erbil” (Iraq).
