At the traditional International Rating Chess Tournament “First Saturday” completed in the capital of Hungary, the residents of Turkmenistan have demonstrated the highest result, having won the medals of all qualities: gold and bronze in the group of international masters, and silver – in the group of international grand masters. Our compatriots gained this success in the classic contests, where for one chess set it is given 1.5 hours with addition of 30 seconds after every move.

Master of FIDE Saparmurat Atabayev, who had no rival in the group of international masters, raised the highest stage of the podium. At that, the pupil of the 10th form of the secondary comprehensive school # 117 of Ruhabat etrap of Ashgabat was the youngest participant of the group. But, this fact had not prevented him to demonstrate the high mastery in the fight with professional chess players. Not only international masters, but also grand masters were among them.

Moreover, superiority of 15-year old Turkmen sportsman was so obvious that he actually gained a victory beforehand. In the game of the last round, he could make a draw. All in all, our young chess player accumulated 7 points of 9 possible, having won a victory in six games over rivals. Most of them were over 50 years old. In two games, he made a draw.

Besides gold medal, Saparmurat also gained another important title – this victory provided him the fulfillment of qualifying standard of the international master. At that, S. Atabayev set original record, having become the youngest Turkmen chess player, who gained such sport success.

Bronze medal in the group of international masters in the composition of our team was gained by tutor of S. Atabayev, Honored Coach of Turkmenistan, grand master Orazly Annageldiyev, who accumulated 5.5 points. It is worth mentioning that the resident of Turkmenistan has provided beforehand the place on the podium a round before completion of competitions, having accumulated inaccessible quantity of points.

International master Yusup Atabayev became the owner of silver medal in the group of grand masters. The student of National Institute of Sports and Tourism of Turkmenistan gained this medal in the last round, where owing to wonderful victory over international master from the USA Aleksander Battey, he raised from fifth place to the second.

Initially, the specialists intended the medal in this group of participants for brother of Yusup – international master Maksat Atabayev, who confidently kept the third position during whole tournament. But disappointing unbeaten record in the last round took Maksat out of prizewinners and placed on the fifth place.

On the eve of classic competitions, here in Budapest, the sportsmen competed for medals in other international competitions on chess – in “Rapid” discipline. Rapid is one of the disciplines, where only 15 minutes are given for a game with addition of 10 seconds after each move. Here, brothers and students of the same year Maksta and Yusup Atabayevs were the best in male group of participants, having won gold and silver medals correspondingly.

Saparmurat Atabayev also showed the best results in “rapid” chess and raised the highest stage of the podium in the contests among juniors.
