The National Boxing Championships brought together over 100 sportsmen from all the regions of the country and Ashgabat at the Galkynysh sports complex in Ashgabat. The athletes have been competing in ten weight categories for five days.
Sh. Muradov (under 49-kg category), Z. Jumaev (under 52-kg category), A. Hojanurov (under 56-kg category), M. Pazzyev (under 60-kg category), S. Hudayberdyev (under 64-kg category), O. Mametshaev (under 69-kg category), N. Pazzyev (under 75-kg category), R. Yuldashev (under 81-kg category), G. Nurmuhamedov (under 91-kg category), R. Kasymov (over 91-kg category) ranked the best in the final rounds.
The national team who will participate in the Asian Championships in Astana this April will be formed from the athletes who gained the highest results in the National Championships. The competitions in the Kazakh capital are the qualification tournaments for the quota places for the London 2012 Olympic Games.
The International Boxing Association (AIBA) organizes the team practice sessions in the Olympic villages in London for boxers from different countries so that they can prepare well for the largest sporting event. Several promising Turkmen boxers were invited too.
